Today my Azerbaijani friend wanted to make me dinner. Not just any dinner ... more like an Azerbaijani speciality. Sheep testicles! Unfortunately they didn't have any sheep testicles in the store so he had to settle with bull testicles, which are more common here in Spain.

As a shear coincidence I had already made other dinner plans for the evening and had to miss out on the occasion. I don't think he will let me off the hook that easy though, especially since the testicles are now stored in MY fridge. I don't know what you think but I guess I just never thought I would ever get arount to eating testicles ... it is not exactly your average Danish meal.

I may just have to return the favour and serve him something disgusting like a hakkebøf or frikadeller with kogte kartofler og brun sovs ... that will teach him :-)

But on the food side these past 14 months have been enriching. I have eaten a lot of new things and actually very few of the things I normally enjoyed back in Denmark.

I have eaten frogs ... just to try it. It tastes fine but I will never get used to the idea. Never.

Several different kinds of snails, some as small as a thumbnail including the house. You can imagine there isn't much snail left when the house is gone - and it is the last ever order they'll get from me.

I have eaten a huge amount of different kinds of shellfish of which I definitely prefer some more than others. Some were still alive and it almost seems like the cook is cheating.

I have also tried a fish that is as thin as spaghetti and has about the same consistency - and I recommend it. It's is called Angulas and it is really good.

I tried the barbecued pigs face - but only once - and even though it is a Spanish barbecue tradition it will never be mine.

I have probably left out some weird things but it seems that soon I will have to add ... testicles.
